How do I subscribe?
Pick a plan, verify your email, and for paid plans you'll be taken to a secure Stripe checkout. Once payment is confirmed, your duck limit updates automatically.
What happens if I miss a payment?
You will always have 5 free ducks on the map — no matter what. If a payment fails, your plan stays active until the end of your current billing period. After that, your account reverts to the free plan and only your first 5 ducks stay visible. Any ducks beyond those first 5 are hidden until your subscription is active again. So if you registered 15 ducks and miss a payment, ducks 1–5 stay on the map and ducks 6–15 go dark. Your duck data and sighting history are never deleted — everything comes back the moment your subscription resumes.
Do plans stack? If I'm on Free and upgrade to Starter, do I get 5 + 10 ducks?
No — each plan replaces the previous one. Upgrading from Free (5 ducks) to Starter gives you 10 duck slots total, not 15. The same applies to every upgrade: Starter → Flock gives you 25 total, not 35.
What counts toward my duck limit?
The limit applies to how many of your ducks are visible on the public sightings map. All your registered ducks stay in your account regardless of plan.
Can I upgrade or downgrade?
Yes — you can change plans at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades apply at the end of your current billing period.
Can I cancel?
Absolutely. Cancel any time from your Stripe billing portal. Your plan stays active until the end of the paid period, then your account reverts to the free plan (5 ducks visible).
If I miss a payment, do I lose all my ducks on the map?
No — your first 5 ducks always stay visible on the map, even if a payment fails or you cancel. Only the ducks beyond your free allowance go dark. So if you registered 15 ducks on a Starter plan and stop paying, ducks 1–5 stay on the map and ducks 6–15 are hidden until your subscription is active again. Your duck data and sighting history are never deleted — everything comes back the moment payment resumes.
